Keep Time

Between the life that you lead and your free time you might wonder: when is the right time to write my stories?

The answer is simple. Always.

Whether you're sitting in a bus or train on your way to or from work, whether you're having a lunch break or loungeing on your sofa zapping through the channels - it doesn't matter. Ideas come and go at all times; you just have to grasp them.
Certainly none expects you to write a whole story in a few minutes. But at least take a short note, so you can come back to that project later and turn it into a concept. Sooner or later it then develops into a full story and from then on it takes on a life of ist own.

Stories want to be written; so do them the favour.

Sometimes even adding only one sentence to your WIPs can help unfurl them further.

It doesn't matter where or how you write; be it your computer at home, your tablet or laptop, your smartphone, a notepad or the napkin for your lunch. Writing can happen anywhere anytime.

I often copy WIP files from my computer onto my smartphone and use the 'docs to go' app to write and edit my works en route. Then I update the file on my computer when I get back and continue there, and vice versa. So I always know where I left off and can keep on writing whenever.
Besides, it's good to have copies in several places in case something happens and you lose data. Imagine the desaster if months of dedicated work is suddenly gone!

Therefore have enough up to date copies on several devices, and have more than one WIP with you.
You're not always in the mood for the same story, so have a few in your pocket. Then you can continue which ever you fancy.

Make writing part of your daily routine and it will enhance your life; because one brilliant idea from that beautiful mind of yours can make your day!
