Writing Exercise 146

Hello there!

This week I was prompted by a dear friend of mine, and so I wrote a drabble which is probably different from what she expected. Here it is:
2018/09/28 – broken dream (Drabble)

Dark and disastrous things happen all around, atrocities, cruelties beyond humanity. There is no end. No silver lining, no hope, no nothing. You can only succumb to despair and madness, or die in the process thereof; horribly, mercilessly, miserably, painfully. If you are really lucky it will happen quickly, a shot through the heart or the head. But prepare to be torn apart limb after limb, and still be alive and aware enough to witness the gory massacre.
Suddenly a noise tears through the darkness. You wake immediately; it was just another broken dream. Having survived another night, you smile.

Writing Exercise 095

This week's writing exercise is a less serious one. I was prompted by my dear writing buddy Frankie, and this is the drabble I came up with:
2017/10/02 – My dog just started talking to me, and he's not pleased. (Drabble)

I had a weird dream. I was walking through a dark, foreign city and I was lost. Somehow I ended up in a park. As I passed the trees I noticed someone was following me. Scared as hell I walked faster until I met a dead end at a lake. So I turned around to face whoever was following me. From the underbush a dog emerged and it growled. Although I don't have pets I knew this was mine. “Where the hell have you been?” the dog exclaimed, “I've been looking for you. Let's go home.” Utterly puzzled I woke.

Writing Exercise 073

This week's topic for my writing exercise was the question 'What did you dream last night?'. I waited for a memorable dream and wrote everything down in a hurry, so I didn't forget about it right away. What I made of it is this poem:
2017/05/05 – What did you dream last night? (poem)

Last night I had a nightmarish dream.
On my way to uni I went through the city,
Looking forward to the lecture I felt quite witty.
A lot of people were running about;
Suddenly I could hear frightened voices shout.
Amongst the panicked mob there was gunfire.
A civil war – my heart sank like a piece of lead;
I saw people tumble and fall, they were dead.
So getting out of there was my strongest desire.
But there was no going back; the road was blocked.
A sudden pain – the blood on my hands was hot,
I looked at the barrel of a gun and knew I was shot.
Realising I was dying I was quite shocked.
Then I woke with a silent scream.
