Writing Exercise 166

Hello!

This time I have been prompted by a member of the Dead Pete Society again so I wrote a poem for you. Here it is:
2019/02/11 – From behind (poem)

From behind a window screen
I marvel at what my eyes have seen
Snow had fallen just last night
Today harsh hail joins the fight

From behind a desk so nice
It is easy to give advice:
Stay inside; the storm is strong
Twirls snowflakes in a howling song

From behind a blanket's embrace
You don't feel the cold on your face
Dreaming of the buds of spring
When dorbeetles fly and birds sing

Home, Sweet Home...

As much as I was enthused about the beauty of the Loreley and the landscape surrounding it, I also enjoy the place I call home.
Situated at a beautiful lake and surrounded by nature reserve my village is a place where others go on holidays. The beautiful views never cease to amaze me despite being surrounded by them every day.
As I watch the seasons come and go, nature itself paints the most amazing pictures. I just need to open my eyes and witness these moments of mesmerizing beauty. Be it the falling snow in winter that swallows everything and gently lays the world to sleep...
... a glimpse of the lake from the lush woods on the hills encompassing the lake during summer -- a place where silence reigns and you almost feel the earth breathing...
... the mysterious stillness of the lake in autumn, that makes you feel frozen in time...

...or a sunrise in the wee early hours of spring, that reflects on the surface of the lake and sets the sky ablaze.
These are things that inspire me; these are things that keep me thriving to become better at art and capture moments on canvas; these are things that make me want to write and conserve these moments in my memories. So I can share what I experience and enjoy day-to-day with you.

Writing Exercise 019

The recently published book boosts my creativity; I'm in high spirits. :D
So this week's writing exercise is a sonnet. There are different sonnet types, structurewise, so I chose the iambic pentametric German version instead of the Shakespearean sonnet.
Here it is:
2016/04/20 – write a sonnet (German sonnet)

Spring

When in the morning birds sing loud and clear,
When tulips, hyacinths and cherries bloom,
When the Orion leaves alone the moon,
Then do not fear for spring is very near.

The sun is on the rise so high and bright,
Wake up! Daylight saving time steals one hour,
Yawning jaws our mueslis and breads devour,
Deer roam the forests, cross the streets at night.

Blackbird, thrush and nightingale sing a song,
The love is here; have you waited for long?
The trees and flowers spread all their pollen.

Motor bikes rev their engines boasting proud,
To village citizens they are too loud,
And many a nose is pretty swollen.
