Writing Exercise 015

Since Easter is near, I have an early Easter egg for you. :D
This week's writing exercise is an Easter themed four times drabble, and I wanted to try a children's story for once. So here it is:
2016/03/23 – Easter story (4 x drabble)

Ina is looking forward to Easter. She likes bunnies and Easter eggs and jonquils. She knows Easter has something to do with Jesus. But she doesn't know Jesus so she doesn't get what the fuss is about. Maybe she will understand when she is grown up like her mom and dad. For now Ina is contented with searching for the Easter eggs the Easter bunny has hidden for her. Her mom always helps her and points out where to look. Ina thinks mom is good at searching. She does it all the time; be it her purse or her glasses or her keys. And because mom is so good at searching Ina decides to help the Easter bunny this time.
So on Easter Sunday Ina gets up very early and tiptoes through the house with her little basket in hand. Quietly she peeks into mom's and dad's bedroom. They are sleeping. The Easter bunny must be asleep also, because Ina can't find any eggs in the garden. When Ina is done she crawls into bed again.
She wakes when she hears her mom's loud voice. Sleepily she waddles into the living room. Her dad is on the phone and her mom sits on the sofa crying. Ina doesn't know what has happened but she doesn't want her mom to cry. It makes her sad, too. So she hugs her mom and tries to console her. “The police will be here shortly,“ dad says and so they wait. Soon the doorbell rings and two uncles from the police enter. “Somebody broke in and took all my jewelery,“ mom tells them.
Ina understands now why mom is so sad. She tugs at her sleeve. “Maybe the Easter bunny knows where your shinies are, mom,“ she suggests. „You just have to look for them.“
The uncles from the police look at each other, then one of them crouches so he can look Ina in the eyes. “Do you know where the Easter bunny has hidden your mother's jewelery?“ he asks.
Ina nods and whispers in his ear: “I helped the Easter bunny this year. But don't tell anybody.“
The man stands. “Well,“ he says to mom and dad, “seems like you have to go on Easter egg hunt.“ Ina helps her mom search the garden. And there beneath the jonquils they are. Everybody is happy again. Ina's Easter surprise has succeeded after all.
